Following on from my recent dev blog about our ideas for RuneScape Classic, we are delighted to offer RuneScape members the opportunity to try Classic for themselves! For two weeks starting from today, Classic is open for new sign-ups from RuneScape members only.

If you access Classic during this two-week period (using your normal username and password), you will continue to be able to do so after the two weeks are over. If, however, you do not, you will miss out on the chance to do so, so give it a try.

There are 15 members' worlds, one of which will be left as being only accessible to those veteran Classic players who have stuck with it all the way through.

You can access RuneScape Classic here.

RuneScape Classic is the predecessor to the current RuneScape game. It was closed to new members over four years ago, but we want for players to be able to try out this important part of our history. We also have potential further plans for Classic (as discussed in this blog), so another reason for this re-opening is to see how many people are interested.

Mod Jack H

Note: If you would like to skip the RuneScape Classic tutorial, there is a button to do so in the 'Spanner' menu in game.

Wow this is extremely exciting for me! :-D
I have always wanted to play Classic, this is so awesome and since it is only 2 weeks, not everyone will have an account (in a years time I will feel special lol).
I must say: GREAT update Jagex, this makes me very happy.
P.S. I knew this game would be hard and it is, however that is what I want, a challenge! The scary thing for me was that it took me 5 minutes to fish one shrimp. :-( However it took less than a minute to mine some tin, so maybe I just got bad luck or fishing is really hard. I felt bad that my friend's were talking to me and I couldn't answer them (can't talk on tutorial).
Some weird things were you can only talk to a person if no one else is talking to them (knew banks were like that but didn't know people were). At first I wondered why there were 5 instructors wondering around, then I realized lol. Also there are no AFK skills in Classic, which I have mixed feeling about. I have great respect for all those 99's by people in Classic now!

Great! I'm glad to be able to check it out again. I started playing shortly after the switch to RS2, and so I've played on Classic a bit, though not very much. This is fun, a good idea on Jagex's part.

To be honest, RS classic is, was and always will be craptastic. I am one of the folks who happens to have access to it and had logged in shortly before they closed it to the general population... I log in about once every three months to see if they have dumped it yet.

Sadly, I agree.

And I'm in the same boat as cestal. I am able to play RSC but I don't. I'm only level 8 with like 35 thieving... I have no idea why that's so high :s

The same can be said for F2P in a lot of areas, and yet people still play ;-)

Honestly it makes me a little sad that F2Pers who had classic accounts back when classic wasn't classic can't play. I understand not opening it to everyone but the main reason I don't play cassic is because I can't. I've had my account since before Runite or Dragon Slayer even existed so it would be nice to go back and take a look at it.

I played it for a bit...I must say, it was certainly challenging and, graphics aside, seemed like something I would like. Also, I saw someone in full rune. It was pretty cool looking, all things considered. The crest on the helm was particularly nice. But all that aside, I found it frustrating that onle one person can talk to an npc at a time, to the extent that it really cut down on my enjoyment. Ah well...If that's changed, or if the servers become much less crowded, I can see myself playing it. Otherwise, that one factor would probably drive me far more insane than I need to be. :-(

This is pretty funny. I never thought I would be able to play RSC but now I can see how it was back in the day! Downright crappy but I totally don't give a thing about it :-D
