Hey guys. If you've haven't heard, Jagex announced they were planning to release a new skill some time this year. Jagex gave us a hint, teling us the new Skill starts with a B. What skill do you think would be a good skill? That doesn't necessarily have to start with a B.

Some ideas I found on the Internet.

Balancing Skill
Barter Skill
Blackmail Skill
Berserk Skill
Blacksmith Skill
Blind Fighting Skill
Bluff Skill
Boating Skill
Brewing Skill
Bribe Skill

Jagex confirmed Sailing will not be the new Skill. Then maybe boating?

I havent a clue what it could be but arent some of those you found already taken?

For instance:
Balancing Skill - Wouldnt this part of agility?
Blacksmith Skill - Part of smithing?
Brewing Skill - Part of cooking?

It could be anything with Jagex. They are just trying to keep you interested.

I could see Berserk as being an addition to Attack Strength and Defense as a sort of drastic temporary stat increase, but not an actual skill. Sounds more like a prayer or spell.
Balancing sounds like Agility...Blacksmith sounds like Smithing...Blackmail and Bribe sound like parts of Thieving...Brewing sounds like that minigame on the pirate island.

I don't even know what to say about Blind Fighting. Seriously, what the hell is it? The same with Bluff, it just sounds like an expansion of the Ring of Charos to me.

Boating is a possibility, since the word itself encompasses more aspects of...well, boating, than the word sailing.

I'm uncreative and immature so the first thing I came up for myself was Bitching. Which many people, myself included, have a very high level in already.

what information is confirmed so far?

-Will be f2p and p2p
-wont be sailing
-wont be tied to members skills
-adjective to describe skill is "massive"
-the skill will be huge almost like a new game
-most entertaining skill to train
-either late 2010 or within first quater of 2010
-British people like to do this
-new armour is coming (may or may not be linked to skill)
-will be unique to runescape much like runecrafting (something no one has done before)


If it starts with the letter "b" its buccaneering. -The term buccaneer is now used generally as a synonym for pirate. But I am pretty sure the letter "b" was a rumor and not actually confirmed.

I would also would not be surprised if we got new eastern lands and the new skill had something to do with them.

Boating would be great, I remember when Sailing first came about as a rumour I supported the idea, thinking it would be a huge improvement to the game, and could be alot more fun then most of the grinding skills. Boating is just as good, and covers an even broader range then Sailing does. I think Ald may be on to something in bucaneering, based on the confirmed evidence he supported.

I have also heard it could be a combat skill and raise max combat to 150. Not sure what it would be and I am not wanting a new skill till end of the year so haven't done much research.

Where did they say it'd begin with a 'B'? No idea what it could be, but I'm looking forward to it, especially if it's F2P as well, as I'm no longer a member. Did they confirm that it'd be F2P?

They definitely confirmed F2P I am not sure about it starting with a B though.

I am not actually that excited about it but of course I can't wait to see what it is..I just probably won't train it.

I think the "b" was a joke by jagex is an a Q&A or a rumor on forums, but who knows. And yes it will be f2p and p2p. I have heard a lot of talk of it being combat again, just because we had summoning last time doesn't mean another combat skill won't be on its way. What ever it is, it is big enough to be a game in it self.

I can't really think of anything that starts with a "B" but as for the comment that it might start with an "H" and British people would like it and the fact that it has to fit with the time frame and it would be fun and amusing to work on...

horseback riding. most likely this would add a stable to the house though which would cause a bigger expansion than with a normal skill which could be why this one is so anticipated.

Thanks for spreading my "h" rumor that I saw that some guy posted on the forums as a joke when someone said it was going to start with a "b". The h is a joke but I would love to get horses or faster transportation, but its not going to happen.

No, you can't. I don't see how you can possibly assume that just because the new skill will not involve mounts, that it still must involve animals on some level. There are no signs that it involves animals at all. Not saying that it won't, but I don't see how you can assume that it will.
