Today was a very strange day for me- I played RuneScape. Not only was I playing RuneScape, I actually thought as the character would probably think if he were real.
I was running through Varrock to the Digsite to finish up a quest, and I stopped at the fountain and saw a man selling news papers. I thought to myself, "Boy I wish I had a few gold pieces on me to see what all the news was about." Sadly enough, I had a full inventory and I had no space for my coins. This brings me to my discussion.
Do you think that gold pieces should hold an inventory space? In other games like WoW for example, the money is shown at the bottom of their inventory, not taking up space.
If this was the case in RuneScape, I'd probably be running around with at least 1k on me at all times.
What are your thoughts?

The fact that it takes up one inventory space to me isn't as big of a deal, but this would definitely be helpful if you wouldn't lose your coins on death. It would then help as I would not have to deposit and withdrawal money every time I go and do something dangerous.

I was just about to post something related to this.
It would be helpful and good to have but that is one reason why I think Jagex doesn't insert that in the game. Everyone could take all their money wherever which I just don't feel fits in the game, takes away the aspect of fear of lets say the wilderness.

Well you will still lose you items if you die so there will be the fear of death i the game.
Compared to other games Runescape is, well, really risky. Death on Runescape may turn a wealthy man into a poor guy wiht almost nothing left. If I compare RS to Dofus, RS makes me jizz in my pants. Death in Dofus is just a loss in Energy points(when it reaches to 0 you become a ghost which will just consume some time to get back to normal) and nothing lost. Well I think protecting the coins from this would be really good.

I don't see why not? that 1 extra inventory would be pretty helpful actually.
There were times where i found people selling things that i needed, by the time i rush to the bank and collect more gold, by the time i come back that offer would be gone or that seller would be gone.
Tokens and other small sorts of things like these as well would be a good idea as well done with the gold kept in held in my opinion.
Why should they take up our bank space up?

Unfortunately you had a full inventory and wouldn't be able to buy it anyway :)
But I really like the idea. Kind of life a gold pouch or something. And maybe it could be visible to other players, as big or small depending on how much money you have in it.
